As part of his or her job, a quality professional is deeply involved in his or her organization's operational issues. The quality professional manages the organization's quality management system (QMS) and champions improvement initiatives. These activities are good because they support the anization's operational effectiveness, but more is required if an organization wants to outperform its competitors.After years of operating and improving its work processes, a mature organization often reaches the operational effectiveness level of its competitors, then starts an endless race of cost cutting and profit-margin slimming, which undermines its desired growth.
