Here is an example of how to assess an audit program based on existing records. Newly certified organization ABC was having trouble getting its internal audit program off the ground. A consultant was hired to improve the internal quality audit program after the organization received findings (one major and one minor) against it in each of its two customer audits during the preceding year. The auditors had received formal training, and there were no dedicated auditors; auditing was a secondary job function.
