GAME THEORY IS the use of mathematical models to show conflict and collaboration with regard to strategic decision making. Within game theory, the tragedy of the commons (TOTC) is a scenario that can be directly applied to resource management and project-based work. TOTC is considered the foremost argument for natural resource management and has been the starting point for countless discussions about the effect of development on natural resources.~1 TOTC occurs if a common resource (in the case of project-based work, an organizational re-source) is exploited beyond the socially effective level.2
