摘要

Computer experiments offer an attractive alternative to physical experimentation in a number of in- stances. The statistical framework of classical Design of Experiment (DOE) can be applied to simulated experiments; however, some precautions are required. An application of computer experiments deals with engineering analysis with finite-element methods (FEM). Their implementation in complex codes is characterized by a number of degrees of freedom, related to the selection of mesh pattern and element size, as well as to a number of other user-specified pa- rameters.
