A Computer Program to Calculate Two-Stage Short-Run Control Chart Factors for (X,R), Charts

This article describes the development and execution of a computer program that will accurately cal- culate first-and second-stage short-run control chart factors for (X,R) charts. The software used is Mathcad 8.03 Pro- fessional with the Numerical Recipes Extension Pack. Exact equations for the probability integral of the range, the ex- pected values of the first and second powers of the distribution of the range, the probability integral of the studentized range, degrees of freedom calculations, short-run calculations, and conventional control chart calculations are used.
