A framework for integrating quality, reliability, and durability in product design with life-cycle cost considerations

Manufacturing enterprises are trying to meet customer expectations for high-quality durable products at minimum cost with a quick turn-around time. In order to meet these expectations, some fundamental changes in the product development processes are required. Some of these changes should include considerations of quality, reliabil- ity, and durability in product design right at the product development stage. Further, the exploration of design alterna- tive should be based on the product life-cycle cost considerations, including warranty costs.
