An Emergency Communications Vehicle (ECV) is a great asset for Amateur Radio emergency communications groups. Like everything else related to emergency communications, thorough planning is essential to make any group's ECV project successful. If groups do not think through the very long-term commitment involved in having an ECV, what could have been a valuable resource can turn out to be a millstone around their neck and cause serious financial, logistical and interpersonal problems. Planning involves much more than deciding whether to get a trailer or a motorized vehicle, and figuring out what rigs and antennas to install.
