Your tower can be made into a vertical antenna. In order to transmit efficiently, it has to be tuned to the desired frequency and excited with RE I used the remotely switched matching system at the tower base, as shown in Figure 1, to accomplish this. Figure 2 shows the mechanical details of my shunt feed system. Note capacitors Cl and C2. In its simplest form, a gamma rod or wire is offset from a tower leg and attached at a point up the tower that provides the best match when fed at its base through a series capacitor, Cl-Changing the distance of the gamma rod from the tower leg, the attach point along the length of the tower and the value of C1, tunes the frequency and match. This is a classic gamma match.
