My TS-440S transceiver had occasional problems with poor contact between the Astron power cable and the Molex-type power receptacle on the transceiver. Even when working, the S meter's pilot light would dim when transmitting. I made several attempts to tighten the contacts by inserting an ice pick into the cable end, but these attempts were only marginally successful.
