I have a 43-foot vertical monopole antenna. Originally, I matched it to the transceiver with a substantial matchbox/antenna tuner located in the shack. The conventional wisdom is that it is more effective and efficient to match these big sticks with a remotely located tuner at the feed point. To this end, I purchased and installed the MFJ-998RT Automatic Remote Antenna Tuner. The "weathertight" steel and plastic cabinet appeared insufficient to protect it from my harsh Michigan weather. It lacked a proper rubber or silicone seal or gasket and was more of a top cover than a weather-tight cabinet.
