Stora Enso and Arauco sign cooperation agreement

Stora Enso and Chilean forestry company Celulosa Arauco y Constitucion (Arauco) have signed a strategic agreement in Brazil regarding Arauco's acquisition of some of Stora Enso's shareholdings in its Brazilian subsidiary Stora Enso Arapoti. Stora Enso will sell 100% of the Arapoti sawmill, 80% of the shares in Arapoti's forestry assets as well as 20% of the shares in Stora Enso's paper mill. The sawmill has an annual capacity of 150,000 m3, the forestry company Stora Enso Arapoti Emprendimentos Agricolas S.A. owns around 50,000 hectares of land, of which 30,000 hectares are productive plantations and Stora Enso's paper mill Arapoti Industria del Papel S.A. produces an annual 205,000 t of LWC. According to the two companies, the transaction is worth $208,000 and is to be finalised by the end of October.
