Perlen Papier: Green Light For Newsprint Machine

The supervisory board of CPH Chemie + Papier Holding AG has decided to replace Perlen Papier's existing newsprint machine with a newer, more efficient and thus more cost-effective plant. The investment would total some SFR500m, the company announced. The new production facility is due to be commissioned in autumn 2010. The new PM 7 would be able to manufacture three times as much newsprint as the present model, raising annual capacity from 125,000 to 360,000 t, the company added. The machinery order depended on the outcome of the final negotiations with suppliers, the timely signature of loan agreements and the award of building permits by the relevant authorities.
