Lwarcel Celulose e Papel to increase pulp capacity

Brazilian Lwarcel Celulose e Papel is planning to increase its pulp capacity. The company announced at the end of April that its P700 expansion project envisages a total investment of R$55m (about ∈21.5m) to optimise the production process of its mill in Lengois Paulista in the state of Sao Paulo. The company has plans to eliminate production bottlenecks, improve monitoring of the environmental compliance of the mill and to raise mill capacity from currently 210,000 t to 240,000 t of bleached eucalyptus pulp by 2009. Contracts with different suppliers including Voith have already been signed, Lwarcel Celulose e Papel added. The company will carry out most of the planned measures during the annual maintenance break in June. A subsidiary of privately-held conglomerate Grupo Lwart, Lwarcel Celulose e Papel started operations in 1986 with an annual capacity of 35,000 t of unbleached pine pulp. Following substantial investments, Lwarcel Celulose e Papel notched up its annual eucalyptus pulp production in 2006 to its current level of 210,000t.
