Key contracts have been signed on the German publication paper market

In the publication paper segment, key contracts have in the meantime also been finalised for rotogravure paper. Contracts appear to have been signed for a six-month duration in general. Manufacturers reportedly want to keep the option to hike prices again in the second half of the year as they consider the current increase to be insufficient. Order books are full for LWC as well as SC paper suppliers. Volumes do not look as good in the graphic paper segment; in addition, there is industry-wide discontent with prices amidst rising costs. Announced price hikes are expected to bring some relief. Overseas business is seen as decisive for future development while in the coated fine paper segment, "widespread" slashing of excess capacity will spur development, it is felt. Demand has picked up again in the corrugated case material segment. Initial signals point towards another round of price increases in April.
