SCA shuts PM 1 in Lucca and recommissions PM 2

SCA Packaging Italia Spa has restarted the production of recycled corrugated case material on PM 2 at its Porcari mill near Lucca on 24 August. The paper machine, which produces 250,000 tpy of recycled corrugated case material, had been idle since 1 May after a part of the mill's roof collapsed over the paper machine.rnOn 8 August, several weeks before the restart of PM 2, SCA Packaging Italia informed that it has temporarily shut down the second production facility at the Porcari mill.rnProduction on PM 1, which has an annual production capacity of 170,000 t of corrugated case material, is expected to be suspended until the end of September. The company said the almost two-month long downtime of PM 1 was due to extensive maintenance work.
