AbitibiBowater to idle two more newsprint machines

AbitibiBowater Inc. continues to reduce its capacity. With effect from 21 August 2009, the company will close two newsprint machines at its Thunder Bay mill in the province of Ontario. Trade union reports said the machines in question are PM 4 and 5. AbitibiBowater's total annual production capacity at the Thunder Bay mill amounts to 234,0001 of newsprint, 330,0001 of market pulp and 85,000 t of specialty paper.
