SCA weighs capacity expansion at OEstrand pulp mill

Svenska Celulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA) is considering plans to increase capacities at its Ostrand pulp mill. CEO Jan Johansson had told the Swedish financial newspaper Dagens Industri in an interview, which was confirmed to EUWID by a company spokesperson, that SCA is currently mulling over the expansion of pulp capacities from 420,000 tpy to 800,000 tpy. The investment project, which is valued at SEK2-3bn, might help to lessen the company's susceptibility to developments on international pulp markets. SCA currently has to buy approximately 1.1 million tonnes of pulp externally, corresponding to some 60% of its overall demand for pulp.
