South Africa's paper manufacturers are going to have to cope with considerable increases in power costs in the next three years. The National Energy Regular South Africa, NERSA, has approved the increase in electricity prices proposed by state-owned power supplier Eskom. The increase is to be carried out in three stages: the price will go up by 24.8% in April 2010, by 25.8% in 2011, and by another 25.9% in 2012. For this reason the manufacturers will have to book additional costs equivalent to some €69m in 2012.
