Abitibi Bowater invests and cuts jobs at Iroquois Falls mill

Abitibi Bowater is planning to cut 60 jobs from a total of 300 at its Canadian Iroquois Falls mill.The streamlining is to take place in the frame of an investment and restructuring programme aimed at improving "overall product quality and the mill's competitive position," the company said. Abitibi Bowater intends to invest CAD12-17 million in updating the TMP plant and the PM 8 in the next one and a half years. In addition, chip receiving and handling capacities are to be increased.
