German paper and board producers consumed 10% more recovered paper in 2010

Germany's paper mills consumed 10.4% more recovered paper last year, i.e. 16.3 million t in total. In doing so they were not able to cover their total recovered paper demand from within the country; rather, they had to make increasing use of imports and simultaneously cut exports, which resulted in net imports of slightly below 900,000 t.The performance report published by the German Pulp and Paper Association VDP (Verband Deutscher Papier-fabriken), revealed that domestic recovered paper production remained unchanged at 15.4 million t compared to the previous year.
