German paper markets impacted by weak economic situation

The weak economy and depressing business climate are increasingly burdening paper markets in Germany. Demand offers no stimulus to recovery while prices are softening in many market segments. Against this backdrop and in the face of specific structural problems, price hike plans like those envisaged for newsprint evoke puzzlement and rejection from publishers and printers. Even keeping prices at extant levels is proving to be difficult.
