Swiss Gramitech develops grass-based pulp

In cooperation with the German PTS paper technology foundation, the Swiss company Gramitech SA has developed and examined the properties of a grass fibre fraction under aspects of paper technology. According to Gramitech, the analyses of test sheets have shown that grass fibres are comparable with hardwood pulp in terms of fibre length and similar to conventional softwood pulp in terms of tensile strength.
