Sappi denies capacity expansion plans for Gratkorn, rebuilds PM at Alfeld mill, no CHP for Lanaken plant

Sappi does not plan to double paper and pulp capacity at its Austrian Gratkorn mill, denying news published in the daily press. In an interview with EUWID Pulp and Paper, Sappi Fine Paper Europe's CEO Berend John Wiersum explained that there were no plans and no decisions taken to install new machines or to increase capacity at the Gratkorn plant. However, there is an initiative to expand the plant's environmental permit in order to maintain the base for the plant's quality status and good cost position in the future.
