Appleton ends paper production in West Carrollton and inks suddIv aareement with Domtar

US speciality paper producer Appleton Inc. is to stop making base paper for thermal and carbonless paper production at its mill in West Carroll-ton, Ohio at the start of June. The closure of three paper machines will remove 170,000 t of paper from the market, a company spokesperson told EUWID. However, Appleton will continue to run the mill as a converting plant and operate coating machines, which were modernised in 2008 for an investment of around US$100m.The mill's workforce will tumble from 430 to 100 employees.
