WPV in Germany reports good sales figures in 2011

According to the business associations for paper processing (WPV) based in Darmstadt, Germany, the development of the paper and board processing industry was fine in 2011. Sales of paper and board articles rose by 6.8% to €18.68bn last year, which means annual sales revenues clearly exceeded €18bn for the first time in the industry's history. Thanks to the good economic trend, the number of employees rose by 0.7% to currently more than 80,000. Sales of paper and board packaging once again recorded double-digit growth of 10.4% to €10.8bn in 2011 and thus set an industry record, reports the WPV. However, the WPV expresses doubt about whether this positive development will continue.
