Germany's Consumer Protection Ministry presents 4~(th) draft of Printing Ink Ordinance

At the end of October, the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) presented the 4~(th) draft of the so-called Printing Ink Ordinance and sent it for final comments to the German state governments, business and consumer associations. The ministry reported that the revised version took into account the comprehensive written and verbal comments received on the 3rd draft dated May 2013. The ministry explained that it had revised the May version once again and provided appropriate clarifications where necessary. Based on assessments of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), which had meanwhile been available, a number of newsubstances were included in the positive list of substances that were permitted to be contained in printing inks used for food contact materials. As soon as the final comments were evaluated, draft regulation on printing inks would be notified to the European Commission and the World Trade Organisation, said the ministry.
