DS Smith receives offer for Nantes paper mill, eyes acquisition of majority stake in Kaplamin Ambalaj

DS Smith has received an offer from Open Gate Capital for its paper mill in Nantes, western France, the company revealed in its business results for the six months to 31 October. The offer was received on 20 November and is binding, a company spokesperson told EUWID. DS Smith is currently engaged in works council consultation. The deal could be finalised as early as in the first quarter of 2015. The mill in Nantes produces white testliner and has an annual production capacity of approximately 60,000 t. With the potential sale, DS Smith continues its strategy to keep its integrated paper production capacity in line with the actual requirements of its corrugated mills. DS Smith currently produces roughly 70% of its total paper requirements at its own mills, the remainder is sourced from other suppliers.
