IFC acquires stake in Indian Ballarpur Industries Limited

International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, is participating in the Indian paper manufacturer Ballarpur Industries Ltd. (Bilt) with an equity investment of $100m. In a Bombay Stock Exchange filing, Bilt reported that IFC is acquiring new shares in the Dutch subsidiary Bilt Paper BV (formerly Ballarpur International Graphic Paper Holdings B.V.) and will then hold a 14.29% share in the company. According to Bilt, the definitive agreement with IFC "for the subscription of new shares worth $100m at an implied pre money valuation of $600m" was signed on 7 October.
