Sappi plans pilot plant for nanocellulose production

Sappi will build a pilot plant to produce nanocellulose towards the end of 2015.The pulp and paper company has been working for the last three years with a research team from Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland, which has arrived at a commercially viable production process. According to Sappi, the researchers have been able to cut the energy needed to produce nanocellulose dramatically as well as reduce the chemicals needed by the process.
