Finch Paper to modernise pulp and paper mill

US uncoated woodfree paper manufacturer Finch Paper plans to invest $20m (€17m) in the modernisation of its Glens Falls, NY, manufacturing complex. The investment is intended to improve the integrated pulp and paper mill's cost structure, reduce spending and increase the site's competitiveness. According to Finch Paper, the money will be invested in wood processing and converting, pulp production and paper production, its three key areas. Amongst others, the company plans to modernise the woodyard, update the distributive control system in the pulp mill and install a new headbox on paper machine PM 4. According to the United Steelworkers Union, work on the project may already start in the first quarter of 2015.
