Packaging group Hinojosa buys Lecta's Sarria de Ter mill

Spanish packaging producer Hinojosa Group has acquired the idle Sarria de Ter mill from Lecta's subsidiary Torraspapel. The administration of the province of Catalonia and the municipality of Sarria de Ter inform that Hinojosa will invest €25m in the site to produce recycled corrugated case material. Papelera de Sarria, as the mill is known since it was acquired on 30 July, will employ 40 persons. Commissioning of the rebuilt mill is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016. Hinojosa plans to produce 90,000 tpy of recycled corrugated case material at Sarria de Ter for its own use in order to gain greater independence from developments in the packaging paper market as well as to cut expenditure for raw material, according to media reports in Spain. The Hinojosa group of companies runs several production sites with a total capacity of 500 million m~2 of corrugated products. It generated sales revenue of €270m in 2014 with a workforce of 500 employees, Spanish media say.
