Billerud Korsnaes posts higher Q2 2015 sales and profits despite drop in delivery volumes

Shareholders of Billerud Korsnaes will be happy with the company's performance in the second quarter of 2015. Operating profit amounted to SEK542m, approximately 20% above the same period last year, while net profit for the period added up to SEK403m, 38% more than in the second quarter of 2014. As a result, per-share earnings climbed from SEK1.39 to SEK1.97. Company CEO Per Lindeberg is somewhat disappointed, however, about the costs for the upgrade of the semi-chemical fluting machine PM 6 and the extended maintenance shutdown at the Gruvon mill: "Technically, the upgrade is a success and product quality improvements exceed expectations, but implementation took a little longer than initially planned." The costs caused by the upgrade of PM 6 and the extended maintenance shutdown at the Gruvon mill are quoted at SEK170m.
