Sappi-Borregaard JV raising lignin production

Sappi Limited and Borregaard have announced that their joint venture Lignotech South Africa is increasing its production capacity for lignin. The two partners are investing a total of ZAR105m (€7.7m) to boost lignin output by 20,000 tpy to 180,000 tpy. This additional capacity is to be available as of 2017. Both companies stress the strategic importance of this investment, which is to strengthen Lignotech's competitive position on the global market and improve supply in markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
