Modern Karton starts new PM for containerboard at Corlu mill

Modern Karton's new PM 5 for lightweight recycled corrugated case material in Corlu, Turkey, was put into service on schedule in June 2015. This was reported by machine engineering company Voith, which supplied the Turkish packaging paper manufacturer with all the process technology. The PM 5 is designed for a production speed of 1,500 m per minute and has a wire width of 8,180 mm. According to Voith, Modern Karton's new paper machine has a production capacity of approximately 400,000 tpy and will produce recycled containerboard with a basis weight range of 70-160 g/m~2. The stock preparation system included two fiber lines and was specially designed for the high share of reject material in Turkish recovered paper, Voith explained. The technology supplied also keeps the paper machine's consumption resources at the lowest level possible at the moment, the German technology company added.
