Demand for printing products is rising in the threshold and developing countries of the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. Experts expect that until 2019, the printing industry will grow by 5% annually to around $52bn. The growth rate would thus exceed the global average which is estimated to be 4%. First, the near future will see a rise in consumer goods that have to be labelled and packed, and second, demand for advertising materials of any kind will increase while government institutions need security printing for documents and securities. Suppliers of printing products will thus increasingly invest in modern technologies in these markets. At the same time new printing houses are being founded in the MENA growth region. The exhibitors attending the Gulf Print & Pack trade fair, which was organised in Dubai from 13 to 16 April, were hence optimistic about their future prospects in this region.
