CRPE receives environmental permit for pulp mill in Brazil

Celulose Rio Pardense e Energia Holding S.A. (CRPE) has passed the environmental compatibility test for its pulp mill in Brazil. The required licence for the construction of the production plant was granted by the responsible environmental institute of the state of Brazil, Mato Grosso do Sul (Imasul). This was reported by Finnish consulting and planning firm Poyry, which CRPE entrusted with the provision of basic engineering services. The mill, which is planned to be built in Ribas do Rio Pardo, will offer a capacity of 2.2 million t of bleached eucalyptus pulp. The granting of the licence represents an important milestone for the implementation of the large-scale project. According to Poyry, CRPE is now authorised to start the preparatory and construction work.Thegreen light granted bythe environmental authority also covers the construction of a 291 MW power station and rail connection facilities. Poyry is currently developing the technical concept for the pulp project and planning the mill. During a second phase the consulting company will deal with the mill's technical specifications and machinery.
