Stora Enso intends to improve the competitiveness of its corrugated packaging production operations in Finland and is planning to concentrate them on the Lahti facility to do so. The plan is to close the Heinola corrugated packaging factory and update the machinery and infrastructure at the Lahti plant with investment expenditure of €19m. The purchases are to be centred around a new corrugator. A final decision on the plans is still subject to the outcome of co-determination negotiations. Action could then be taken in November this year and would be completed towards the end of the first quarter of 2018.
