UPM to launch investment package of nearly €100m for Kymi pulp mill

UPM is planning an investment package of €98m for its Kymi pulp mill in Finland. The investment will aim to strength the mill's position as supplier of bleached pulp for growing segments such as tissue, specialty products and board. After the completion of this project, UPM will have increased its annual pulp production capacity altogether by over 500,000 tonnes since 2013, said Heikki Vap-pula, Executive Vice President of UPM Biorefining. Annual pulp production capacity of the Kymi mill is expected to increase from currently 700,000 to 870,000 tpy of NBSK and BEK by the end of 2017. Furthermore, the new investment would improve Kymi's competitiveness and environmental performance.
