Saica to upgrade machines at El Burgo del Ebro plant

Saica has earmarked an investment of €146.4m over the next two years for the Spanish El Bur-go del Ebro mill (near Zaragoza), a report in the local business press revealed. According to the report, the investment aims to improve the production process as well as paper quality. The company intends to produce "innovative white and brown recycled corrugated case material" using new processing technologies, but has no plans to increase capacity. The upgrade would affect two of three machines at the mill it is learnt. Saica confirmed the rebuilding plans but did not disclose further details. The investment is to create 38 new jobs and work on the mill is scheduled to start soon. According to the Saica website, El Burgo del Ebro mill has a total capacity of 1.26 million tpy. PM 8 has a capacity of 380,000 tpy, PM 9 420,000 tpy and PM 10 475,000 tpy.
