Paper industry directly buys recovered paper from collection centres and municipalities

Small and medium sized paper recycling companies in Germany face greater competition from paper mills to purchase recovered paper. Key paper mills have started to approach collection centres directly to procure the material that they need, according to German recycling and waste-management industry association bvse. Paper mills have increasingly started to corner municipal tenders by making bids which SMEs cannot afford to, complains Reinhold Schmidt, chairman of bvse's paper recycling section in a circular sent shortly before Christmas.
