Sappi posts improved results thanks to strong pulp business and lower finance costs in 2017

International pulp and paper group Sappi Limited closed its financial year 2017 on a strong note despite a comparatively weaker fourth quarter. For the 2017 business year, which ended on 30 September, the group reports 3% growth in sales to $5.3bn. Sales in the speciality pulp segment increased by 13% to $1.06bn. Sales in the group's paper business remained almost stable with a year-on-year increase of 0.4% to $4.17bn, mainly due to healthy growth in specialty paper and packaging.
