UK environment minister tells MPs he 'had not given sufficient thought' to China bans

Recent remarks by British environmental minister Michael Goves have done little to calm waste industry fears that too little governmental attention is being given to China's announced import bans for certain waste categories and their potential to hobble British recycling. Testifying before the Parliament's Environmental Audit Committee on 31 October, Mr Gove said he had no idea what the impact of the bans and tighter import restrictions would be and conceded that 'had not given sufficient thought" to the matter.
