German recovered paper prices mostly stable in August

Due to a lack of import licenses, large sections of the Chinese paper industry are no longer able to turn to the world market to meet their demand for recovered paper. Chinese authorities are making favourable decisions on import licenses dependent company performance in environmental inspections, which many paper mills reportedly failed in July. The only remaining option left open to Chinese mills without permission to import is purchasing on the Chinese market. However, arisings on the domestic market are reportedly not nearly sufficient to fulfil demand. Accordingly, production is being curtailed. According to market rumours, there were already Chinese buyers are already looking to Europe in some cases to source new paper.
