US manufacturer of printing and writing paper North Pacific Paper Company (Norpac) has objected to what it claims are cheap offers of paper from Canada on the US market. The company filed a petition with the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) on 9 August to impose antidumping and countervailing duties on Canadian imports of certain grades of un-coated groundwood paper, including newsprint, amongst others. USITC granted the petition and has launched an investigation into the allegations.
