Fourth draft of German mineral oil ordinance brings no clarity to legal situation

The importance of the mineral oil issue was underlined by the large number of attendees at the international conference "Residues of Mineral Oil and Synthetic Hydrocarbons in Food". This event, the first exclusively focused on this issue, was put on by Akademie Fresenius in Düsseldorf, Germany on 28 and 29 March. The conference was particularly topical in light of the publication of the fourth draft of the proposed mineral oil ordinance by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in Berlin at the end of February. The draft was sent to industry associations for comments on 7 March.
