Huhtamaki and Smith Anderson form joint venture for paper bag manufacture in Poland

Finnish packaging group Huhtamaki will manufacture paper bags in Poland under a joint venture with Scottish paper bag producer Smith Anderson Group Limited. The joint venture will also be tasked with selling paper bags in eastern Europe. Huhtamaki will be the majority owner of the joint venture company. The company was not prepared to provide details on the exact shareholdings held by each of the two partners. A Huhtamaki spokeswoman said that it would first and foremost be Smith Anderson that would deliver the required technological know-how. Huhtamaki is already manufacturing paper bags in Russia, yet only to a limited extent.
