Moody's outlook stable for global paper and forest products industry in 2018

Reflecting the expectation that European and North American packaging paper, tissue and market pulp manufacturers will improve their profits, rating agency Moody's has indicated stable overall outlook for the global paper and forest products industry in the coming year despite negative prospects for the printing and writing paper segment. The growth in packaging paper would offset decreased demand for graphic papers, Moody's said. The rating agency expects companies' earnings to improve by 2-4%. Greater consolidation within the global paper and forest products industry could cut volatility in earnings.
