Sun Paper fires up new MG kraft paper machine

China's Sun Paper started up production on its new PM 40 specialty paper machine in Yanzhou, Shandong province on 8 January. The Voith supplied paper machine has a web width of 4.8 m and a design speed of 800 m/min. The machine is geared to produce machine glazed (MG) kraft paper for flexible packaging applications in basis weights of 25-80 g/m~2. Sun Paper and Voith did not provide information on the production capacity of the PM 40 or the order value. PM 40 will expand Sun Paper's production portfolio to include MG kraft paper grades which are experiencing increased demand from the packaging industry as alternative to plastics.
