Engineering company A.Celli acquires PMT Italia

Italian engineering company A.Celli has acquired insolvent peer company PMT Italia. A Celli wants to leverage synergy effects to get PMT Italia back on its feet. Acquiring PMT Italia will concurrently enable A.Celli extend its offering for the paper industry. A.Celli specialises in production and converting machinery for the tissue and non-wovens industries. In contrast, PMT Italia has broad experience and references in all product segments of the paper industry, especially for graphic and packaging paper. A.Celli has not revealed details on the formalities and financial details of the transaction. Machine engineering company PMT Italia has over half a century of experience in the paper industry. The company spent the longest time of its existence as a subsidiary of US group Be-loit Corporation. Following Beloit's insolvency in 2000, its Italian arm Beloit Italia was acquired and continued to exist as PMT Italia. In early 2017, PMT Italia went again bankrupt and was acquired at the end of April that year by Czech engineering company Papcel.Two years later, Papcel itself ran into financial difficulties and sold all its shares in PMT Italia to Czech BHM group. The next crisis followed in March 2020, this time amplified by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The company once again went to the courts to file for insolvency.
