Canfor takes commercial downtime at PG Pulp and Paper mill, extends downtime at Taylor BCTMP mill

Canadian Forest Products (Canfor) has announced additional production curtailments as part of efforts to reduce output at its pulp mills and sawmills to reflect the current cost climate and demand. In addition to production stoppages at Canfor's Taylor, Intercontinental and Northwood pulp mills, the group will also conduct commercial downtime at its Prince George (PG) Pulp and Paper mill in September. All told, Canfor will curb pulp output by some 65,000 t of bleached chemi-thermomechanical (BCTM) pulp, nearly 90,0001 of northern bleached and unbleached sulphate kraft (NBSK and UBK) pulp and 9,000 of kraft and sack kraft paper in the third quarter of this year.
